Job Opening: Church Receptionist / Office Assistant


•       Full-time, hourly, FLSA nonexempt

•       Compensation of $11.00 to $13.00 per hour depending on qualifications

•       Employer-provided health insurance, paid holidays, vacation

•       Supervised by Office Manager   


The Receptionist / Office Assistant serves as the church’s first point of contact with members and guests and is responsible for creating a positive and inviting impression of the church and its ministries. This person serves as an important administrative resource for ministerial and administrative staff, assisting them by designing posters, creating handouts, ordering materials, and completing stated tasks.

•       Warmly welcome and assist members, guests, and people-in-need who enter the church, quickly evaluating how best to respond to and/or serve them in a professional and Christ-like manner

•       Present a well-groomed appearance

•       Answer, screen, and forward incoming telephone calls

•       Effectively communicate with staff, members, guests, and service technicians to conduct the business of the church

•       Create visual communications to convey messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner

•       Post updates to church website and social media

•       Assist in preparing, reproducing, assembling, and distributing printed materials

•       Maintain building security by monitoring entrances and cameras

•       Sort and distribute mail and carrier deliveries

·        Accept additional responsibilities as assigned

·         Genuinely warm, caring, friendly attitude and engaging personality

·         Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; articulate

·         Good organizational skills with the ability to manage interruptions

·         Ability, focus, and discipline to work with minimal direct supervision

·         Maturity of character; dependability

·         Experience and comfort with using a telephone system

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel

·         Graphic design giftedness
