To the Cliff Temple family:
Before tomorrow’s official “launch," I wanted to announce to you that I have written a book called Faith, Hope and Politics. It’s a call to put your faith in action in the public square and is especially written for the next generation of leaders.
Many of you know that I hold a seminary degree as well as a PhD in Political Science. This book was written as a synthesis work between those fields. I’ve always believed that there is much in common between political life and church life. Both deal with shared values, both involve people of all kinds, and both call us to be our best selves.
This is from the back cover:
“In a political climate where many people feel pessimistic and powerless, Faith, Hope and Politics is a call to a new generation of leaders not to give up on the public square. Through personal narrative, stories of inspiration, and a deep dive into fifteen qualities future leaders will need to make a lasting impact, Brent McDougal challenges the next generation to give their lives to a more hopeful and just future — a future in which faith, hope and love have the power to transform America.”
I completed the book last summer. It took a full year to see it in print, but now that it’s here, I’m really excited to share it with you! It’s published by Smyth & Helwys, which produces mostly faith-focused content.
Here’s the Amazon link. In the next six weeks I plan to have a few book signings around the community.
Thank you for being such a great family of faith, one that inspires me to be my best self and to use the gifts God has given me for the good of Dallas and beyond. That is my hope for the next generation of leaders as well.
Dr. Brent McDougal
