Kaizen Artist Reception - Rebecca Prince

  • Cliff Temple Baptist Church (map)

From Rebecca:

This exhibition marks the culmination of my year-long art residency at Cliff Temple Baptist Church. Titled Kaizen—a Japanese word meaning “continuous improvement through small, intentional steps”—this body of work reflects a journey of transformation, both personal and communal.

I’ve had the privilege of guiding our community through creative practices that merge art with soul work. Rooted in the belief that everyone’s voice matters, each project invited participants to reflect, release, and create from a sacred place within.

As an artist, my work is rooted in the belief that creativity is a sacred act. I paint not only to create, but to listen to God, to others, and the quiet places within myself. This year has deepened that practice, allowing me to merge spiritual formation with visual storytelling. Each piece in this show was shaped through a process of reflection, release, and renewal.

At the start of 2024, I chose Kaizen as my word of the year. This past year has been exactly that: an unfolding. Through my time as artist-in-residence, I’ve grown not only as an artist, but as a woman learning to trust the slow, sacred process of becoming.

This show is for anyone who’s ever felt invisible, overlooked, or unworthy. My prayer is that through this work, you feel seen. That you find space to breathe. And that you remember—even the smallest act of creativity, compassion, or courage can change everything.—
