Seeking TRANSFORMATION

The Cliff Temple Survey Results are in…
…help us take the Next Step!

From January-March 2025, we held 8 listening sessions and received 153 survey responses.

Five themes rose to the top.

1.  Connection: We need a well-defined plan for how guests and new members engage with the life of our church.

2.  Communication:

  • Internal - How do I sign up? Where do I go? What’s next?

  • External - Who are we? What do we believe? How might we create more Cliff Temple visibility in the neighborhoods? Better marketing.

3.  Apartments: LOTS of new people living blocks from our campus. How do we engage?

4.  Young Adults: Provide a community where young adults flourish and are discipled.

5.  Discipleship: Better coordination of Sunday School and other discipleship opportunities that make apprenticeship to Jesus a part of our daily rhythm.

How would you address one or more of these themes?

  • Look at our mission, vision, values, and community pain points below.

  • Consider how our values and community pain points shape our responses to the five themes. For example, how might our value of authenticity shape our marketing? How does our value of intergenerational family-community and belonging shape our ministry with young adults? How do the experiments we propose help address the pain points we see in the community around us?

  • Work as an individual or in a group to come up with a safe, modest (and playful!) experiment that:

    • Addresses one or more of the themes above, and

    • Takes our calling, values, DNA, and community pain points into account.

  • Be creative!

  • You can type your proposal. You can write or draw it on paper or poster board. You can make a video, the choice is yours!

  • We will incorporate as many ideas as we can into the church wide spiritual plan. The plan will help set our course from 2026-2031.

  • Need help, or just want to talk through your ideas? On Sunday mornings during the month of June, members of the Transformation Team will be available in room 227 from 9:45-10:45.

  • Email your proposal to transformation@clifftemple.org or take it to the church office by June 29.

Our Mission:

Building everyday people into everyday missionaries for Jesus Christ.

Our Vision:

We will become a multi-cultural, multiplying movement of disciples who love and serve their neighbors as they become like Jesus Christ.

Our Values: (Core Calling and DNA)

  • “Jesus Only”
Pastor Joe English (1898-1900, 1904-1909) helped crystallize this foundational direction during a spontaneous prayer meeting in 1904. We move through hardships and differences because of our trust in Jesus as Lord and a deep longing to be like him.

  • Authenticity

Living, speaking, and acting honestly—not seeking to fake or impress. (Romans 3:23)

  • Family, Community and Belonging

We’re a intergenerational family pointing one another toward our true home in God. (Genesis 1:27, 1 Corinthians 12:12)

  • Resilience

We’re committed to one another and to being a faithful presence in the neighborhood. (Isaiah 41:10)

  • Generous Service

Living and giving from the abundance that comes by following Jesus. (Matthew 10:8)

Needs and pain points identified by the church and the community around us:

  • Loneliness/isolation

  • Homelessness/rising cost of living

  • Racism in all forms

  • Need for home/family/belonging/a village!

  • Need for physical, mental, and spiritual health (healthy rhythms of life)
